Who We Are

Michael Tsipursky, MD, MS
CEO, Co-Founder

Vitreoretinal specialist, Department Chair and Assistant Medical Director at Carle Health. Bringing 15 years of clinical experience with multiple book chapters and publications on various retinal pathology and surgery. Experience in multiple clinical trials as a primary investigator. Long track record of translational research experience.

Professor Joseph Irudayaraj, Ph.D
CSO, Co-Founder

Professor Joseph Irudayaraj has a doctorate in biological engineering, and a dual masters in bioengineering and computer sciences. As one of the leaders in the appli-cation of nanotechnology in biomedicine, his group has developed biosensors, drug delivery approaches, and single molecule tools for quantifying mRNA targets and pro-tein interactions for a range of biomedical applications. His team has published over 350 refereed journal articles, supervised over 40 graduate students and 25 postdoc-toral scholars. He has taught at Utah State University, Pennsylvania State University, and Purdue University. At present he is the Founder Professor of Bioengineering at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

Victoria Messerschmidt, Ph.D
Principal Scientist

Victoria received her bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Engineering from Purdue University in 2016 and a doctorate in Biomedical Engineering from University of Texas at Arlington in 2021. She is a recipient of the NIH T32 Training award for her excellence in research and academics. Her expertise is in the fabrication of biodegradable nanoparticles for the delivery of drugs and large plasmids (>10.5 kbp) into primary umbilical endothelial cells. Her interests are in the fabrication and characterization of drug delivery systems that can be tailored to target specific cells and designed for specific release and degradation rates. She has specific interest in technology commercialization.

Dr. Wen Ren has his B.S. in Chemistry and a Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry. His expertise is in nanoparticle technology and nanochemistry. He has over 10 years of experience in developing and utilizing nanostructures and functionalization strategies for enhanced detection of disease biomarkers. His has developed surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy probes and highly sensitive lateral flow assays, and fabrication and characterization of nanodelivery systems.
